I read Lindsay’s excellent books – Darkly Dreaming Dexter and Dearly Devoted Dexter – a while back, and when I heard there was going to be a series based on the books, I was extremely excited. So much so, in fact, that I was worried I would be disappointed simply because my standards were so high.
The show maintains the uncomfortable atmosphere of the novels with greater fidelity than one might have expected, and Dexter (played by Hall) is there. The visuals of the show are stunning, to say the least. Watching the show, it’s impossible to help but find a certain harmony within yourself with Dexter. He’s a monster, and yet it’s entirely possible to identify with him.
