When I watched the first episode of the series, I thought I was watching a reality show about a small village whose residents are fighting an epidemic of Tourette syndrome. Imagine my surprise when I learned from a friend that Shrinking was intended to be a comedy.

But where is the humor?

The plots lack the cleverness of, say, an average Gilligan’s Island episode. Acting certainly doesn’t add to the hilarity. Star Jason Segel’s acting range goes from happy confused face to sad confused face to confused confused face. This is in stark contrast to Harrison Ford’s performance, which falls into the “one-face” category.

Unfortunately, the lines presented are neither clever nor funny, leaving the show with a peeling imitation of wood held down by a veneer of duct tape.
